Saltwater smut grass

The Saltwater smut grass is a perennial Poaceae plant that is 20-30 cm tall. This plant has tough rhizomes which grow into patches. Its leaves are leathery and are needle-shaped at the tip. It grows panicles of flowers and yellow-green fruit. The saltwater smut grass is a salinity-tolerant plant and is widely distributed in the mudflats of estuaries and seashores in western Taiwan.


The Saltwater smut grass grows in the core area of Gaomei Wetlands.
